The Barbara Howard Learn-to-Row Scholarship

Cape Cod Community Rowing, Inc. awards two (2) annual scholarships for Learn-to-Row programs in honor of one of our Masters program founders, Barbara Howard.  This scholarship is awarded to Masters (adult) rowers who demonstrate a desire to learn and have a financial need.

CCCR offers learn-to-row programs each Summer for people of all ages at Long Pond in Harwich, MA.  Typically, the program includes a series of lessons with a coach, introducing new rowers to the sport's fundamentals that get them actively engaged and on the water.

These scholarships honor Cape Cod Community Rowing (formerly Cape and Islands Rowing Association, Inc.) co-founder Barbara Howard, who championed Learn-to-Row in our organization's earliest days as a priority for growing the club and community.  In its inception, Barb served as administrator, marketer, and coach – introducing dozens of residents and current members to the sport she has come to love.  She continues to provide advice and oversight to CCCR as a board director and officer, and lends her expertise to several community-building initiatives, including Learn-to-Row.
